Gazebo

The Sachse Historical Society has a lovely gazebo on the museum grounds. Shane Drury, in his efforts to earn Eagle Scout status, has taken on a tremendous project and built the gazebo. Shane decided this was the project he wanted to do, and approached the board of directors in December of 2006. Through dogged persistence and patience, he assembled labor, donations, and materials with extraordinary resourcefulness.
There were moments of discouragement and moments of triumph. Bobby Bownds, who completed a landscape project featured in our Winter 2008 newsletter, also participated in the building of the gazebo, and the combined projects – landscape and gazebo – are impressive.
