Sachse Historical Society 2008 Annual Meeting
Bill Newman was the guest speaker at the Sachse Historical Society 2008 annual meeting. Bill joined us to talk about his experiences as a bona fide eyewitness to the John F. Kennedy assassination. A picture of him and his family, who dropped to the ground when the shots rang out, has become famous. He was interviewed by the FBI and has been interviewed by every major newspaper in the world. Oliver Stone’s movie JFK features a brief interview snippet, where actor Vincent D’Onofrio portrayed the role of Bill Newman. Although The FBI considers Bill Newman a “formidable” witness, he spoke to us just like a longtime neighbor, followed by a question and answer period. A video and audio recording of his talk is available at the museum.
