A SPECIAL EVENT FOR ALL VETERANS

On November 5, 2011, the Sachse Historical Society held our first Veteran's Day appreciation day.

The event was well attended and showed off several collections of artifacts from several local families.  One special exhibit was that of an artillery vehicle. To those not familiar with military equipment, it sure looked a lot like a tank.  There were uniforms, weapons from the 1800's, folks dressed in attire appropriate for the eras they represented, and all sorts of other memorabilia.

Representatives of the Christian Motorcycle Association attended and helped keep an eye on the many special items exhibited.

Sache's own, Retired Lt. General Charles Eighelberger and his wife, Jackie, attended, and Gen. Eichelberger brought the key note speech.

The City of Sachse presented a Proclamation to the Sachse Historical Society, showing appreciation for this special event.

The Presentation of the Colors, the singing of our National Anthem, a prayer, the playing of Taps, and a 21 gun salute complimented the day's activities.

Several photos of the event are shown below.  For a more complete photo gallery of the day's events, please click on the Photos tab above.
